Maj. Gen. (Res.) Yaakov Borovsky

Yaakov Borovsky is a former Major General in the Israel Police having served the organization for over 30 years in a wide array of roles including commander of the Haifa Police, Head of the Police Senior Officer’s School, Deputy Head of the Operations Branch and after he was elevated to the rank of Major General, Head of the Planning Branch and Commander of the Northern Police District.
In 2005 he left the Police and joined the State Comptroller’s Office as a senior consultant and head of the anti-corruption task force. During his stint at the State Comptroller’s Office he was involved in some of Israel’s most important investigations including those against former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and former Finance Minister Hirschson.
In 2008 he ran for the position of Mayor of Haifa, coming in second position. His faction won 3 seats in the Municipal Council and Borovsky is a City Councillor.
Yaakov Borovsky has a BA and an MA in political science and public administration from the University of Haifa and a Law degree from the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center.
