🛑 BREAKING: Iran fires barrage of rockets at northern Israel from Syria
Overnight, the Iranian Quds Forces in Syria fired approximately 20 rockets at Israel, towards the Golan Heights area, putting 1.5 million Israeli citizens – many of whom had to rush to bomb shelters – in direct line of fire.
This was a highly dangerous, hostile act, only further underscoring that Israel cannot accept an Iranian presence on our border with Syria.
Thankfully, there were no injuries. Four rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome system and the rest landed in Syrian territory.
In response to this act of gross belligerence, the IDF targeted a number of Iranian military sites in Syria (see below).
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said Thursday morning that the IDF had destroyed “nearly all” of Iran’s military infrastructure sites in Syria overnight in response to a rocket barrage on Israel’s north, warning Tehran that attacks on Israeli territory will be met with “the strongest possible force.”
The IDF has stressed it “remains ready for various scenarios but does not seek to escalate the situation.”
