Statement by IJC President Vladimir Sloutsker in response to President Abbas’ call for Britain to ‘atone’ over Balfour Declaration
Response by IJC President Mr. Vladimir Sloutsker, to an article about the Balfour Centenary published by PA President Mahmoud Abbas in The Guardian, 1st November 2017 (‘Britain must atone for the Balfour declaration – and 100 years of suffering‘):
IJC President Vladimir Sloutsker:
Mr. Abbas’ outrageous and deceitful comments demonstrate that it has never been about the ‘1967 borders’, but rather about 1917 and Israel’s very existence.
Britain should be, as Prime Minister May and Foreign Minister Johnson have said, be incredibly proud of Britain’s role in the Balfour Declaration and establishment of the State of Israel.
It is the Palestinian leadership that ought to atone for 100 years of terror and rejectionism.”
