IJC’s Arsen Ostrovsky Speaks At Ammunition Hill Ceremony Honoring Captured Israeli Soldier Hadar Goldin
IJC Executive Director Arsen Ostrovsky was honored to speak this week at a special commemoration & unveiling of a plaque in honor of IDF Soldier Lt. Hadar Goldin (z’l) at the ‘Wall of Honor’ at Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem.
Hadar was killed by Hamas terrorists during a humanitarian ceasefire in Op. Protective Edge in 2014. Hamas then captured his body, taking him to Gaza in one of the underground terror tunnels. Almost three years later to the day, Hamas refuse to return Hadar’s body for a proper burial, cruelly holding him hostage as a ‘bargaining chip’ and refusing access to the Red Cross, in contravention of every humanitarian law.
The special ceremony was held at the ‘Wall of Honor’ at Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem, the site of the iconic 6-Day War battle in 1967, which today is maintained thanks to JNF-USA. The Wall of Honor was established to honor Jewish soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the State of Israel and their home countries.
In addition to the Goldin family, IJC’s Arsen Ostrovsky was honored to speak alongside Minister of Jerusalem Ze’ev Elkin, U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and Deputy Supreme Court President Elyakim Rubinstein.
IJC is proud to stand alongside the Goldin family, joining the global effort calling on Hamas to immediately and unequivocally return Hadar body (together with Sgt. Oron Shaul, who was also killed and captured by Hamas during Op. Protective Edge) and doing everything to ensure our soldiers return home to Israel, for a proper burial and resting.
