The vote on Israel’s Independence at the UN

The United Nations, November 29th 1947, this movie gives an overview of the dramatic speeches, the votes and the decision at the UN to establish a Jewish homeland in Israel.
The UN vote on 29 November 1947 discussed the Partition Plan for Palestine, a way to end the British mandate and divide the country into two State’s, Israel for the Jewish people and Palestine for the Palestinian Arabs. The final vote were dramatically in favor of the plan, 33 countries voted yes (Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Byelorussian SSR,  Canada, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador,  France,  Guatemala,  Haiti, Iceland, Liberia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua,  Norway, Panama,  Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Soviet Union, South Africa, Sweden, The Philippines, Ukrainian SSR, The United States, Uruguay and Venezuela), 13 countries voted no (Afghanistan, Cuba,Egypt, Greece,India,Iran,Iraq,Lebanon,Pakistan,Saudi Arabia,Syria,Turkey and Yemen) and 10 countries abstained (Argentina,Chile,Colombia,El Salvador,Ethiopia,Honduras, Mexico,Republic of China,United Kingdom and Yugoslavia)
