PRESS RELEASE: IJC & JFNA To Launch Historic ‘Trilateral Dialogue between Israel, American and European Jewry’
Historic launch of first-ever permanent

Trilateral Dialogue between Israel, American and European Jewry

To strengthen Jewish Life and Connection to Israel
A joint initiative of The Israeli-Jewish Congress and the
Jewish Federations of North America

As part of the upcoming JFNA General Assembly (10-12th November 2013), The Israeli-Jewish Congress (IJC) and the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) will jointly launch the first ever ‘Trilateral Dialogue between Israel, American and European Jewry.’

The launch will take place in Jerusalem, on Tuesday 12th November 2013 (8.30-11am), at the ‘Gesher’ Institute (10 King David St, Jerusalem).

The special event will be attended by Jewish leaders and heads of over 20 European countries and a delegation of the most senior North American Jewish leaders from the JFNA.

European countries represented will include: France, Greece, Hungary, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Ukraine and many others.

The primary purpose of this initiative is to reinforce relations between Israel, European and North American Jewry, and to discuss ways to support and strengthen connection to Jewish life and the State of Israel as the State of the Jewish People.

Vladimir Sloutsker (IJC President):

Whether we are Jews from Israel, Europe or America, we are ultimately all united by our shared faith, history and connection to the State of Israel, as part of one united family.

As both European and American Jewry continue to face increasing challenges, especially in Europe, with rising anti-Semitism and attacks on the very essence of Jewish life and Israel’s legitimacy, it makes it all the more important for the Jewish people to consolidate and maintain a permanent dialogue to help overcome these challenges and ensure our communities continue to thrive and connection to Israel is strengthened.”

Rebecca Caspi (Senior Vice President, Global Operations, JFNA):

We believe it is most important for Jewish leaders from North America, Europe and Israel to share with each other the most pressing concerns, issues, challenges and opportunities facing their respective communities, and the Jewish people worldwide as a whole.

Although each community has its own unique concerns, we also have many challenges in common, such as strengthening Jewish life and our connection with the State of Israel, as evidenced by the findings of the recent Pew Survey. As such, it is imperative that we maintain a constant dialogue between North American and European Jewish leaders, and with the State of Israel.”

The event will be moderated by Amb. Avi Pazner, a former World Chairman of Karen Hayesod – UIA, Israeli Ambassador in Europe and current member of IJC Advisory Committee, together with Mr. Saby Behar, the Chair of Global Operations: Israel & Overseas Coordinating Council of JFNA.

Media is welcome and invited to attend this historic launch of the first ever ‘Trilateral Dialogue between Israel, American and European Jewry.’
